In November we learn about turkeys as one of our Ohio animal investigations. We read books, watch videos, listen to their sounds, and look at pictures of the turkeys to learn about their diets, special features, and habitats. Afterwards, the students create a book in which they drew pictures with descriptions of what they had learned. One page included labels of body parts, another page illustrated the turkey's diet with a short description, a page was devoted to special characteristics, and one page was devoted to drawing the habitat with an explanation. This was completed in a kindergarten classroom.
